NCAA Tournament: Bulldogs Take on Regional Host, Swarthmore, on Friday

Swarthmore, PA----Looking to keep their storied postseason alive, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team will take on host, Swarthmore College, in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament tomorrow, March 6, at 7:30 pm.  Winner of tomorrow's night cap will play the winner of Ithaca College and Babson College on Saturday, March 7, in the Second Round also at Swarthmore at 7:30 pm.

Brooklyn College (13-15; 7-7 CUNYAC): Entering the CUNYAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, the Bulldogs knocked off No. 4 Hunter College in the quarterfinals, No. 1 John Jay College in the semifinals, and No. 2 Baruch for their second conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in five years.....senior guard, Anthony McClean, scored a game-high 16 points to earn the CUNYAC Championship MVP honors.....Brooklyn has won their last four games following a six-game skid toward the end of the regular season....Senior guard, Michael Tesoriero, was named a Second Team CUNYAC All-Star for the second straight year....Brooklyn was picked to win the CUNYAC in the Preason Coaches' Poll....The last time Brooklyn advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament was back in 1982....it is Brooklyn's fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Swarthmore College (26-1; 18-0 Centennial Conference): Ranked No. 1 nationally the entire seson, the Garnet just suffered their first loss of the year in the Centennial Conference finals to Johns Hopkins at the buzzer....it is the Garnet's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament....Swarthmore played in last year's National Championship game, falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh....Nate Shafer was named the CC's Defensive Player of the Year....Head Coach,Landry Kosmalski, was named the Centennial Conference's Coach of the Year....Zac O'Dell was named to the CC First Team while George Visconti earned Second Team honors....Vinny Deangelo was named the CC Rookie of the Year.
