Montclair, NJ---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team dropped its second straight game to start the season at Montclair State on Thursday, 91-68. It was Montclair's Season Opener at home. Brooklyn will look to bounce back on Saturday, Nov. 13, at home against Cabrini. Tip-off is set for 3:15 pm, following the conclusion of the 1:00 pm women's game against Clarks Summit.
Trailing 27-17 with 7:20 left in the first half, the Bulldogs went on a 15-4 run capped by a
Zuric Harvey three-point make, and took their first lead, 32-31, since the opening minute of the contest. However, the Red Hawks responded with a three of their own to re-take the lead for good. The home team would roll in the second half, leading by as many as 28 points in the final 20 minutes of play.
Montclair was efficient in transition, scoring 23 fastbreak points to BC's 6. The Red Hawks had 13 makes from beyond the arc to the Bulldogs' 4 for the game. Brooklyn finished with a slight advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the host 39-38.
BC senior guard,
Noah Shy, paced the Bulldogs with a game-high 18 points and team-high 8 rebounds. Freshman guard,
Jarid Garcia, added 13 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor. Four Red Hawks reached double-figures in scoring lead by Steven Breeman's team-high 17 points while shooting a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc.
