Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ---Taking a set in both matches they played at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational on Saturday afternoon, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team wasn't able to find a rhythm to close out either contest on the day. The Bulldogs would end up dropping their first match to FDU-Florham, 1-3 (15-25, 23-25, 25-20, 13-25) and closed out the day with a 1-3 loss to host, Ramapo, 1-3 (26-24, 16-25, 20-25, 19-25 ). BC drops to 6-5 with the two non-conference losses. The Bulldogs will look to rebound on Tuesday, 9/28, as they host Pratt at 6pm.
After falling to FDU 25-15 in the first set, the Bulldogs made things more interesting in the second, thanks in part to a four-score rally that included three
Aleah Rafat kills to even the game, 11-11. FDU responded with a couple of late spurts that gave them a 2-0 advantage.
Brooklyn didn't go away easily in the first match as they took the third set, scoring six of seven points late in the game. However, the Devils responded in a big way in the final game by jumping out to an 8-0 lead and never looking back.
Rafat led the way with 19 kills and 20 digs. Junior setter,
Ezri Shor, finished with a match-high 38 assists. FDU's Adrienne DeFuria paced the Devils with 14 kills.
BC got off on the right foot against Ramapo with a dramatic 26-24 win in the first game closed out by back-to-back kills put away by Shor and Rafat. The home team would settle in and start the next game in a convincing fashion before the Bulldogs put up a pair of late fights in the final two sets where they were eventually edged by the Roadrunners.
Rafat added another 15 kills to her day to go along with three aces against Ramapo. Sophomore outside hitter,
Ashley Fung, added 14 kills offensively and 14 digs defensively. Ramapo's Caleigh Golabek paced a balanced offensive attack with ten kills.
