Camden, NJ----Playing in their second trimatch in as many days, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team dropped both matches at Rutgers-Camden on Sunday. Brooklyn fell to Alvernia, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-17) before closing out the day with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19) loss to the host. BC returns to playing .500 ball with an 11-11 overall record following the non-conference trimatch. Nex Up: Brooklyn returns to CUNYAC play against borough foe, Medgar Evers, on the road on Thursday at 6:30 pm.
The Rundown
- The Bulldogs found themselves playing catch-up the entire match against Alvernia. Alvernia was the more efficient team offensively, hitting .291 as a team to the Bulldogs' .188.
- Rutgers-Camden used a match's rest to their advantage, jumping out to an early leads in the first two sets and never looked back. BC avoided the sweep with a strong start in the third set, taking a 13-7 lead and keeping the Raptors at bay. However, the home team regrouped and jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the fourth set, eventually closing out the match.
Leading the Bulldogs
- Junior outside hitter, Ashley Fung, put away a team-high 10 kills and came up with eight digs against Alvernia. Sophomore libero, Zoey Van Vleet, finished with a match-high 15 digs and a match-high four service aces against the Golden Wolves.
- Sophomore outside hitter, Tessa Winkleman, put away a team-high 10 kills and came up with six digs against Rutgers-Camden. Van Vleet had another standout performance at libero finishing with a team-high 18 digs and served up a pair of aces against the Raptors.
