Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team earned their first CUNYAC victory of the season, holding off Lehman, 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 25-27, 25-21). Brooklyn improves to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss while Lehman drops to 4-9 and 0-4. The Bulldogs will look to keep their momentum going in conference action at York on Tuesday at 7pm.
Following a late rally that helped the Lightning avoid being swept in the third set, it looked like Lehman could do the same in the fourth set to force a fifth. However, already leading 20-18, the Bulldogs created some breathing room with back-to-back scores.
Jasper Diangco closed out the match with one of his seven kills on the afternoon.
Brooklyn was dominant in the late stages of the first set, rallying for four straight scores to take a commanding 24-16 lead down the stretch.
The Bulldogs were the better getting into their full sets finishing with 45 assists to the Lightning's 21 for the match.
Admir Cekic finished with a match-high 39 assists for the Bulldogs.
Fidel Maldonado led the Bulldogs in points with 13.5 on the afternoon on eight kills, five blocks, and two service aces.
Omar Rezika led BC in kills finishing with a team-high 10 for the match.
Brian Fok led Brooklyn on the ground finishing with a match-high 18 digs.
Lehman was led by Ray Rodriguez's 10 kills.
