Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team closed out the 2022 season on Tuesday in the CUNYAC Championship tourney play-in game, falling to No. 4 Lehman, 6-0. Entering the playoffs as the No. 5 seed, the Bulldogs completed the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 6-21, doubling up their win total from the last time program competed back in 2019 due to the pandemic. Lehman improves to 11-14 with the victory and advances to the field four with double-elimination play beginning at Brooklyn College Field on Friday at 11am.
After two scoreless innings of softball, the Lightning broke the stalemate in the bottom of the third inning with three runs on a pair of hits and two BC errors. The home team added another two runs in the fourth before tacking on another run in the fifth.
The Bulldogs managed three hits off of Lehman starting pitcher, Samantha Nazar, who struck out 10 batters in all seven innings of work. Despite the loss, freshman starter,
Danielle Guzzardi, was charged with two LC runs, yielded four hits, and struck out nine on the day.
