Jamaica, NY----Making key plays down the stretch, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team remains perfect in CUNYAC play (7-0) with a 69-64 victory at York College on Friday. With their sixth straight victory, Brooklyn improves to 10-7 overall while the Cardinals move to 8-7 (4-3 CUNYAC). Next Up: Brooklyn begins their backend of conference games on Tuesday at home against Medgar Evers at the West Quad Center at 5pm.
The Rundown
- With the Bulldogs trailing York, 64-61, with 1:50 to go in regulation, Brooklyn went on an 8-0 to close out the contest, including a layup in the paint finished by junior guard, Erika James, at the 1:16 that gave Brooklyn the lead for good.
- An evenly played game through the first half, the home team used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to take a 46-34 lead by the 6:47 mark. Brooklyn responded and a three buried by senior guard, Gianna Gotti, with six seconds to go, cut York's advantage to 51-49 heading into the fourth quarter.
- Brooklyn opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run to take their first lead since the second quarter. York would knot the game at 61-61 before taking the lead on a made three with 1:50 left.
- Not the best shooting night for Brooklyn, the Bulldogs outscored York in second chance points, 21-8. BC also outscored the Cardinals, 24-14, in points off of turnovers.

- Erika James scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 10 boards for Brooklyn's double-double. She also came up with 4 steals and blocked a pair of shots.
- Gotti added 18 points and dished out 5 assists.
- Sarah James chipped in 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

- Alicia Gumbs scored a team-high 16 points and dished out 5 assists.
