Bulldogs Pick Up First Conference Win at Medgar Evers in Battle of Bedford Avenue, 69-56

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---Earning their first conference win of the season, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team defeated Medgar Evers, 69-56, on the road on Friday.  BC moves to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in CUNYAC with the Battle of Bedford Avenue victory while MEC drops to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.  Next Up: Brooklyn will host Baruch in a CUNYAC tilt on January 11 at the West Quad Center at 7:15 pm.  

The Rundown 
  • Four Bulldogs reached double-figures in scoring on the evening.  
  • Trailing the Cougars 18-13 with 7:27 to go in the first half, the Bulldogs regained momentum and the lead thanks to a 14-0 run that put them up 27-18 at the 1:51 mark.  Brooklyn would head into halftime with a 27-21 advantage.  
  • A made three buried by BC guard, Franz Depra, with a little over 16 minutes left to play gave Brooklyn their largest lead of the game, 40-26.  However, the home team responded, cutting the BC lead down to a point with 5:22 remaining, but the Bulldogs would never relinquish the advantage.  Brooklyn guard, Kayin Olajide went on a 6-0 run of his own in the next minute, giving BC a 61-54 lead with 4:14 to go.  
  • BC kicked their lead back up to double-digits in the final three minutes of play to secure the conference victory.  
  • Making high quality shots all game, the Bulldogs shot just under 50% from the field for the game.

  • Kayin Olajide scored a team-high 17 points and flirted with a double-double, grabbing 9 boards. 
  • Elisha Park added 16 points and also neared a double-double, finishing with 9 rebounds.  
  • Serge Thraysbule chipped in 12 points and pulled down 6 boards. 
  • Franz Depra finished with 10 while knocking down a pair of three-point field goals.  He also dished 5 assists and came up with 3 steals.  
Leading the Cougars
  • Jacob Green finished with a game-high 20 points while shooting 5-11 from behind the arc. He also grabbed 6 rebounds.
