BC Women’s Soccer Eliminated in CUNYAC Semifinals by CCNY 4-1

Randall's Island, New York --- Coming into Saturday afternoon's CUNYAC Semifinals game, the No. 4 seeded Brooklyn College women's soccer team looked to advance to the CUNYAC Championship for the first time since 2016. Unfortunately, that would not be the case as the team would fail to pull off an upset against No. 1 seed CCNY, coming up short, 4-1. The Bulldogs end the season with an overall record of 3-10-2 while the Beavers improve to 9-5 and advance to the CUNYAC Championship Final next Saturday.  

How It Happened: 

  • City College took a 2-0 lead into halftime after Karen Pineda scored two goals, with the first one assisted by Stella Bolduc in 23' and an unassisted one in 34' 

  • Brooklyn College was outshot 17 to 0 in the first half and 33 to 1 overall, 16 of those 33 on target 

  • The Beavers' MacKenzie Moreno would make it 3-0 with assistance from Sara Rodriguez in 52' 

  • Sharon Garcia would further extand the lead to 4-0 with an unassisted goal in 57' 

  • The Bulldogs' Angelina Vasta would score the lone goal in 77' off an assist from Mary Khosh 

  • The Brooklyn College Bulldogs failed to get a corner kick, while the City College Beavers were able to attain 16 corner kicks 

For the Bulldogs: 

  • Angelina Vasta would score her 4th goal of the season, to end the season tied at the top as the leading goal scorer of the team 

  • Mary Khosh gets her 2nd assist of the season to finish as the second leading passer on the team 

  • Ceren Kosterelioglu would record 7 saves in 60 minutes of play 

  • Sage Bernstein would record 5 saves, not conceding a goal for Brooklyn in the final 30 minutes of the match
