Brooklyn, NY----In front of another enthusiastic home crowd, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team pulled out a 3-1 (25-14, 25-11, 21-25, 25-23) over Rutgers-Newark on Thursday. Brooklyn improves to 7-8 with the non-conference win while the Scarlet Raiders go to 9-7 overall.

- BC begins a five-match road stretch beginning on Saturday at a trimatch hosted by Mt. St. Mary College where they will take on Kean U. at 1pm followed by the host at 3pm.
How It Happened
- With the score tied 2-2 to start the match, Brooklyn went on a game-changing 6-0 run sparked by back-to-back kills put away by freshman middle, Olivia Fan, and junior middle, Ayomide Adeoye. Senior outside, Ashley Fung, ended the first set on a kill.
- Leading 6-5 to start the second, the Bulldogs rallied for 16 straight scores including six aces served up by senior setter, Katia Mercado, to go up 2-0 in the match.
- The visitors didn't go away in the third set and thanks to two four-score rallies, the Scarlet Raiders took a 16-11. Rutgers-Newark wouldn't relinquish their lead from that point on to take the set.
- With the score tied, 14-14, in the fourth set, Brooklyn went on a clutch 6-0 run that included four aces served up by sophomore libero, Ruti Joshi. Despite the visitors battling back to cut the lead to 23-21 down the stretch, Brooklyn ended the match on a kill hammered by junior outside, Sydney Gdanski.
- Brooklyn finished with 20 service aces on the evening to the Scarlet Raiders' 8.
For the Bulldogs
- Mercado finished with a match-high 7 aces.
- Fung led the attack with a team-high 9 kills to go along with 11 digs.
- Rafat was also solid on both sides of the net, finishing with 7 kills and 12 digs.
