BC Valiantly Falls Short of First CUNYAC Championship to Baruch, 2-0

QUEENS, New York----Coming off of an upset of No. 1 seeded Lehman in the CUNYAC Championship Tournament semifinals last weekend, the No. 5 seeded Brooklyn College men's soccer team unfortunately came up short in the CUNYAC Championship on Saturday at Queens College, falling to No. 3 seed, Baruch, 2-0.  Playing in their first conference title match since 2014, the Bulldogs finishes the season with a 6-9-1 overall record while the Bearcats improve to 9-6 with their automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

How It Happened:

  • The game was even until Julio Ramirez came off the bench for the Bearcats to make it 1-0 off an assist from Ammar Ahemedshaker in 29'.

  • Arman Celebi was stopped on a one-on-one situation by Carl-Henry Obeissant's right leg, keeping the score at 1-0 in 58'.

  • Brooklyn would played with ten on the field for the final 23 minutes of action.

  • The Bulldogs' Adan Khodorovsky responded immediately, forcing the Bearcats' Jon Legasa to divert the ball into the crossbar in 68'.

  • With the Bulldogs down a man but knocking on the door to tie the game, Baruch's Andrew Kinal was able to help Diego Sachun seal the match at 2-0 with a goal in 88'.

  • Both sides had 7 shots on goal, although Baruch did outshoot Brooklyn 15 to 10.
