BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Wednesday night's conference matchup, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team looked to extend their winning streak. After taking the last two games, both conference matches, they hosted the Lehman College Lightning, a team that they met in the CUNYAC Semifinals last year, hoping for a similar result.
Both teams would battle to the very end before settling for 1-1 draw, the first one for both sides all season. The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (3-7-1, 2-0-1 CUNYAC) continue to be undefeated in conference play, while the Lehman College Lightning (3-6-1, 1-0-1 CUNYAC) get a positive result on the road.
How It Happened
The Lightning would strike first from the left side with a cross from Mohamed Ali Sogoba to Brandon Dennis for a right center strike into the goal for a 1-0 lead in 22'.
With Lehman having the majority of possession, Brooklyn would manage to get their first shot, one from
Bruno Servisi that would go wide left in 23'.
The Bulldogs would finally breakthrough, as
Seif Mokhtar would kick a through ball from the backfield to a running
Bradlej Cupi, who looked as though he would lose possession before taking control of the ball and shooting a shot down the right center of the posts from ten yards out to tie the game 1-1 in 34'.
Brooklyn would have their best chance to take the lead early in the second half with a shot from
Adam Moharam that would be denied on the bottom left in 54'.
Dennis looked to score his second goal of the night, and with what looked to be a clear shot to score,
Brian Perea, who came in at goalkeeper in the second half, would make a miraculous save with his feet, sliding in the nick of time to prevent a goal down the bottom center at 75', keeping it 1-1 in dramatic fashion to the frustration of the Lehman bench.
For the Bulldogs
- Bradlej Cupi would score 1 goal after taking 2 shots, his second of the season.
- Bruno Servisi led the attack without scoring, taking 3 shots, 2 of them on target.
- Adam Moharam would have 1 shot on target, his only shot of the game.
- Seif Mokhtar would have 1 assist, his first of the season.
