BC Women's Volleyball Ends Season In Semifinals Against John Jay

Bulldogs Couldn't Stop the Bloodhounds From Going to CUNYAC Champiosnhip

NEW YORK, New York ------ Coming into the CUNYAC Semifinals, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team came into the game extremely motivated to play the John Jay College Bloodhounds coming off their quarterfinals victory over Lehman. on Tuesday. However, as they found themselves playing on the road against the number two seed, the Bulldogs were unable to get over the hump, getting swept in the process 3-0.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (14-14, 5-2 CUNYAC) end their season with an even record and went down fighting in the third set against the John Jay Bloodhounds (21-6, 6-1 CUNYAC), who move on to the CUNYAC Championship tomorrow.

How It Happened

Brooklyn would strike first in the first set taking a quick 2-0 lead through a service ace from Amra Mulic and kill by Danielle Fuxman. However, with Brooklyn up 6-5, John Jay would outscore Brooklyn 17-3 down the stretch to take a convincing 22-9 lead that would carry them to take the first set 25-13.

The second set was a lot more competitive, featuring 7 tied scores, but eventually the Bloodhounds would pull away to take the set 25-15

Brooklyn would try and fight against John Jay in the third set, holding on ro a 12-10 lead, one that John Jay would cut into with a 12-1 to take the lead 22-13. With their season and pride on the line, Brooklyn would go on one more run to try and get back into the game by going on a 9-1 run, but John Jay would close the door on the number three seed's season with a 25-23 victory in the third set.

For the Bulldogs

  • Aleah Rafat would lead the attack again, getting into double digits with 11 kills and 11 digs.
  • Amra Mulic led the way with 13 assists and 2 service aces to along with 3 digs.
  • Olivia Fan had one of her best games individually with 6 block assists, 3 digs, and 2 kills.
  • Danielle Fuxman would be second on the attack and defense with 5 kills, 5 block assists, and 1 dig.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team look to next season in hopes up getting past the Semifinals.
