BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Friday's first meet at home, the Brooklyn College men's swimming and diving team would finally come home to face the Purchase College Panthers in their second non-conference meet of the season. The Bulldogs would pull off a 72-31 victory to take them down once again.
The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (5-1) improve to a winning record for the first time this season, while the Purchase College Panthers (0-4) have yet to win this season.
For the most part, Brooklyn would have an easy day in the pool, since most events were contested between Bulldogs swimmers only in what felt like a competition between teammates. Therefore, Brooklyn would win Event 2's 200-yard Medley Relay, Event 4's
2, 4, 26 only Brooklyn;
Michael Kravets would burst out of the pack of Bulldogs in Event 6's 200-yard Medley with a time of 1:58.35, over a minute ahead of his teammates. He would also takeover Event 14 with a time of 1:02.53 in the 100-yard Butterfly.
Simeon Shkoruta would post a time of 14:32.82 in the 100-yard Freestyle in Event 4. He would also come out on top of his teammates in Event 20, over 4 minutes ahead with a time of 6:58.63 in the 500-yard Freestyle.
Max Bratkovsky would beat out his teammates in Event 24 with a time of 1:14.91, a near 8-second difference in the 100-yard Breaststroke.
The competitor that would be tested the most, however, would be
James Lee, who competed head-to-head with Purchase's male swimmers. He would take Event 8 by 1 second, posting a time of 24.82 in the 50-yard Freestyle. He would also edge his opponents in Event 16 with a time of 56.41, almost three seconds ahead.
The Bulldogs would close out the meet with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, posting a team time of 1:59.52 to finish what could be considered a solid outing.
Up next, the Brooklyn College men's swimming and diving team travels to Patchogue, New York to face the St. Jospeh's University-Long Island Golden Eagles on Friday November 22nd at 7pm.
