Brooklyn, NY---Brooklyn College Men's Cross Country cleaned up with the announcement of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) All-Stars earlier in the week. BC grad student,
Frank Ferrante, became Brooklyn's first ever Runner of the Year. First-year BC Head Coach, Eric Schrick, was chosen as the conference's Coach of the Year.
Azizjon Sharifov,
Yasin Gordon, and
Samuel Dafner all earned CUNYAC All-Star accolades for finishing in the top-15 at this year's CUNYAC Championships. In addition,
Wali Mohammad was named to the conference's Sportsmanship Team. The Bulldogs took Third Place at the 2024 CUNYAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park a couple of weekends ago and will run in the NCAA Regional Championships on November 16 at Stockton University.
Frank Ferrante - Runner of the Year
- Named CUNYAC Runner of the Week during the season.
- Began the season by winning the Purchase Invitational in a pool of 53 runners.
- Placed fourth overall at the 2024 CUNYAC Championships.
- Placed sixth overall out of 64 runners from NCAA Division I, II, and III schools at the Manhattan College Invitational 8K with a time of 28:00.6.
- Placed 8th overall out of 168 runners at the Bard Invitational 8K with a time of 26:59.2.
Coach of the Year - Eric Schrick
- Team earned a First Place at the Purchase Invitational to open the season.
- Four runners finished in the top-10 at CUNYAC Championships - most amongst all schools competing.
- Team took fourth place out of 21 scoring teams at the Queensborough Invitational.
Azizjon Sharifov - CUNYAC All-Star
- Third straight All-Star selection for his career. Finished second for Brooklyn and sixth overall with a time of 30:12.1 on the 8K CUNYAC Championship course.
Yasin Gordon - CUNYAC All-Star
- Improving every week during the season, finished third for BC and 7th overall with a time of 31:21.9 at the CUNYAC Championships.
Samuel Dafner - CUNYAC All-Star
- In his second season with the Bulldogs, he also cracked the top-ten at CUNYAC Championships, finishing 9th overall with a time of 31:30.2.
