BC Men's Volleyball Rolls to First Conference Win Over York

Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-14) sweep of York College for the their first conference win of the season on Thursday at the West Quad Center.  BC improves to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in CUNYAC with the win while York drops to 0-6 and 0-2 respectively.  

Next Up:

  • Brooklyn continues conference play at John Jay on Saturday in a CUNYAC Tri-match.  BC will take on Hunter College at 12pm followed by the host at 2pm. 

How It Happened

  • The Brooklyn College Bulldogs would go on a small run after being tied at one to go up 6-2, with both York College Cardinals points due to service errors; Brooklyn never surrendered the lead and took a 25-11 win in the first set.
  • York would strike first, but Brooklyn would begin to pull away with reigning CUNY Rookie of the Week, Aaron Siu, getting 4 kills to help the Bulldogs take the second set 25-13.
  • With the Cardinals on the ropes, it was the Bulldogs' David Lema who would help put away the game with the full participation of the team setting 6 assists and attaining 2 service aces in the set to take the third and final set 25-14.

For the Bulldogs

  • Aaron Siu once again led the attack with 8 kills, 7 aces, and 6 digs.
  • David Lema ended the game with 25 assists to lead all Bulldogs to go along with 2 service aces and 5 digs.
  • Jason Lin led the way defensively with 2 blocks, but was also able to provide 2 aces and 4 kills.
  • Aziz Abdusamiev had 4 kills, 1 block, and 1 assist in a solid effort.
  • Everyone had something to contribute throughout the game, as Alvaro Gonzalez, was able to get 7 digs in the game, while Jiaian Flanders was the second leading attackman with 6 kills. Tommy Min
