USTA National Tennis Center (Flushing, NY)----Despite a hard-fought effort, the No. 2 seeded Brooklyn College men's tennis closed out the 2023-24 campaign falling to No. 1 seed, Baruch, 5-0, in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship on Thursday. Brooklyn ends the season with an 11-7 overall record, the most program wins since 2008, and first conference championship appearance since 2007. Punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, the Bearcats improve to 12-5 with the title victory.
Baruch just escaped with a 3-0 lead following doubles, as
Ryan Sham and
Craig Pazarecki battled at the top flight, just edged out, 8-6.
Mordecai Lev and
Allen Mardakhayev fell at the No. 2 flight, 8-4, and
Aymen Kuc and
Ryan Badre-Hume lost, 8-1, at the No. 2 flight in doubles.
The Bearcats clinched the championship with victories at No. 6 flight and No. 3 flight singles. Brooklyn junior,
Mujibur Shaad, was up a set (6-1, 6-6) when play was stopped with Baruch's fifth win of the afternoon.
