Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Roll to First Win of Season Over Yeshiva

BC Controls, Gives Maccabees No Shot

BROOKLYN, NY----Earning their first win of the season, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team cruised to an 11-0 shutout of Yeshiva University at home on Thursday.  Led by junior back, Dionisia Payamps', first collegiate hat-trick, the Bulldogs move to 1-4-1 with the non-conference victory while the Macs fall to 0-8 to start the season.

Brooklyn would would show glimpses of how this game would go early on, as Julianna Elkins would find Gianna DiPronio with a through pass from the right side of midfield for an easy shot on the bottom right corner to make it 1-0 in 16'.

The Bulldogs would come back again a few minutes later during this stretch, only this time approaching from the left side of the attack zone. Chelsea Gonzalez would dribble around two defenders to attempt a shot that would glaze the hands of the Maccabees goalie, allowing Sage Bernstein to close in from the right side to put it away 2-0 in 20'.

Gonzalez would strike again for Brooklyn, only this time she would steal the ball away from a Yeshiva defender and hit a brace off her right foot into the bottom right corner to make it 3-0 in 23', a score that would be taken into halftime.

The Bulldogs did not take their foot off the gas, and instead would put more pressure on the Maccabees early on in the second half. Ana Romero would gain possession around the center circle of the field to find Gianna DiPronio running along the right sideline. DiPronio would get as far as she could into the attack zone before crossing it to find Dionisia Payamps to put it away 4-0 in 47'.

Roughly a minute later, Brooklyn would be awarded a corner from the right side of the field. Sage Bernstein would take the corner and kick it over all defenders before finding Payamps once again, who would head it in this time to make the score 5-0 in 48'.

Less than a minute later, Chelsea Gonzalez would attack from the left side once again, dribbling through two defenders before a cross with her left foot would find Zasu Alvarez to make it 6-0 in 49'. Gonzalez would have 1 goal, 3 assists and 4 shots, 3 being on goal.

What can only be called a triangle combination would see a give and go between Bernstein, DiPronio and Payamps. Eventually, Bernstein would find DiPronio on the right side, who would deliver another cross to a cutting Payamps to make it 7-0 in 53'. As noted before, Dionisia Payamps would end the evening with a hat trick of 3 goals and 5 shots with 4 of those being on target.

Gonzalez would steal one of many possessions during this run, making a quick pass to Elkins by the corner of the bus. Elkins would make an even quicker tap pass to Bernstein, who would launch a rocket into Yeshiva's net to make it 8-0 in 59'.

Gianna DiPronio would score once again, as Julissa Chino would kick a long through pass to a running DiPronio to make it 9-0 in 65'. DiPronio would end with 2 goals, 2 assists, and 6 shots with 4 of them on target.

Sage Bernstein would once again find herself kicking a corner, and was once again successful. With a little luck, her intended pass would be elevated due to a defender blocking it before Ava Ford would somehow put it away for good to make it 10-0 in 71'. Bernstein would end the evening with 2 goals, 3 assists, 4 shots with 2 on goal.

Imani Dickens, who would have 3 shots on goal for the evening, would once again attempt a shot that was saved by Yeshiva's goalie. With the ball bouncing back to her once again, she made a quick decision to find the freshman off the bench, Shakhzoda Isomidinova, for the sealing 11-0 game in the 75'.

The Bulldogs would shoot a total of 41 shots with 26 of them being on target. BC freshman keeper, April Hartje, recorded the first clean sheet of her collegiate career in all 90 minutes of action.
