BC Women's Swimming & Diving Sink Against Lehman

Bulldogs Yet To Win In New Year

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into the last conference meet of the season, the Brooklyn College women's swimming and diving team looked to get themselves another win that would even up their conference record against the Lehman College Lightning. The year 2025 has not been kind to the Bulldogs so far, and today was no different as they would fall short at home by a score of 83-64.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (6-8, 1-3 CUNYAC) have now extended their losing streak to five meets, including the four that have happened in the new year, while the Lehman College Lightning (2-6, 1-2 CUNYAC) improve their record with a crucial conference win.

Yara Shaik would prove to be the bright spot of the meet, posting a 2:42.03 time in Event 5's 200-yard freestyle and a 2:52.08 in Event 9's 200-yard individual medley, both of which saw her go head-to head with her teammates.

Diana Plasencia would briefly take over in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a 1:39.35 as the sole participant in Event 13.

Shaik would prove herself once again in a clash with one of Lehman's swimmers, taking Event 17 with a time of 1:13.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke, nearly a minute ahead of her opponent.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's swimming and diving team stay at home to face off against the College of Staten Island Dolphins on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6:00pm.
