Morristown, NJ----Despite taking a 2-1 advantage through three games, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team wasn't able to close out their Season Opener at St. Elizabeth University on Wednesday, falling to the Eagles, 3-2 (24-26, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 11-15). SEU earned their first win of the season, moving to 1-2 overall with the non-conference victory. Next Up: BC is right back at it on Thursday on the road as the Bulldogs travel to Purchase College for a 7pm opening serve.
How It Happened
- After losing a closely contested opening set, the Bulldogs road a key four-score rally toward the middle of the second set to take a 19-17 lead and eventually tie the match. The run was highlighted by a pair of kills put away by junior outside hitter, Jiaian Flanders.
- The Bulldogs carried their momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 10-5 lead following an ace served up by junior middle, Jason Lin. BC cruised for the remainder of the set to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
- However, the home team didn't back off, and used a four-score rally to grab a comfortable 19-14 lead in the fourth set and eventually force a deciding set.
- Brooklyn grabbed a 6-5 lead after a four-point run capped by a Lin kill in the final set before the Eagles took the lead for good and the match, thanks in part to a five-score rally.
- SEU hit .257 to the Bulldogs' .196 on the evening. Brooklyn finished with an edge in blocks, 5-2, and kills, 55-52.
