BC Women's Soccer Steals A Draw Against CCNY

Bulldogs and Beavers Remain With Identical Conference Records

RANDALL'S ISLAND, New York ------- Coming into their regular season finale, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team would finish off in conference play going toe-to-toe with the City College of New York Beavers. Both teams came in with identical records, having won two matches and lost one a piece. Both were also looking to secure a higher seed to make an impact in the CUNYAC Playoffs. The Bulldogs simply needed to make sure they did not lose in order to secure a top spot. However, no team would come out on top, as both sides would take a late draw of 1-1 to end their regular seasons.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (4-10, 2-1-1 CUNYAC) secure a spot in the playoffs, specifically the number two seed, to earn the right to host a game for the first time since 2016. Meanwhile, the City College of New York Beavers (3-7-3, 4-10-1 CUNYAC) still make it to the playoffs regardless with an identical conference record.

The first half of the match would be relatively tame, but the biggest chance to score came off a dangerous corner kick that led to a shot to the crossbar by CCNY at the 9'.

After Sage Bernstein saved the Bulldogs twice, they would finally get their first shot on offense through Imani Dickens at 33'. She would be one of four Bulldogs to get one shot on goal.

With the score tied 0-0 at halftime, it was CCNY that would come out pushing the attack as another corner would kick off their offense at 53'. Bernstein would save both shots taken against her, keeping the score even at 0-0.

After three offsides called on the Beavers and Bernstein's fifth save of the game at 69', the Beavers would break the tie with their player's first goal to make it 1-0 at 75'.

CCNY looked to expand their lead, but Sage Bernstein would make one more save to give Brooklyn a chance to possibly tie the game at 86'. Bernstein ended the game with 6 saves.

Needing a goal, the Bulldogs would push up on offense, but their first shot would go wide to the left at 87'. Two minutes later, the Bulldogs' DiPronio would kick a shot into the post denying the opportunity to score. However, just when all seemed lost, Alyssa Hardison would turn a heartbreaking end into one of euphoria, as she would put away the tying goal in the waning minutes of the game at 89'.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team will get a rematch with the City College of New York Beavers in the semifinals, next week Saturday, November 1st at 12:00pm.
