New York, NY----In a five-set thriller, the No. 3 seeded Brooklyn College women's volleyball team outlasted No. 2 seed and host, Baruch, 3-2 (15-25, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12), in the semifinals of the CUNYAC Championship Tournament on Thursday. Brooklyn improves to 14-15 overall with the conference tourney win while the Bearcats close out their season with an 11-15 record. Next Up: Brooklyn advances to the CUNYAC Championship match on Friday, November 14, at Baruch College's ARC against top-seeded John Jay at 6:30 pm.

With the Bulldogs trailing 11-10 in the fifth and deciding set, Brooklyn rallied for four straight scores that included a pair of kills put away by
Ella Snobar and an ace served up by
Ruti Joshi, giving the Bulldogs a 14-11 advantage. Following a Baruch score, Brooklyn ended the match on another Snobar kill. The freshman outside hitter finished with a team-high 13 kills on the evening.
After dropping the first set, Brooklyn found themselves down 10-3 in the second set. However, the Bulldogs clawed their way back into the match beginning with a five-score rally sparked by back-to-back kills put away by
Ayatallah Elkotby and
Danielle Fuxman. Brooklyn grabbed a 20-17 following a 4-0 run capped by assisted blocks denied by Elkotby and Fuxman. The Bearcats didn't go away and tied the set, 20-20, before Brooklyn scored the final two points of the set beginning with an
Olivia Fan kill.
Brooklyn found themselves in another tough predicament in the third set, trailing the Bearcats, 17-10. The Bulldogs dug deep once again and after a four-point rally sparked by an
Olive Carroll kill, Brooklyn only trailed Baruch, 18-17. Down 21-20, Brooklyn took a 2-1 lead in the match thanks to a five-point rally capped by a
Saule Okeke-Ziburkus kill to close out the set.
The Bulldogs were the better team at the net for the match, finishing with 10 total blocks to the Bearcats' 4. Elkotby and Snobar finished with five blocks each.
Baruch's Dibjot Kaur and Karolina Lundqvist combined for 36 kills on the evening.
Fuxman finished with 9 kills to aid in Brooklyn's offensive attack. Freshman libero,
Malika Pulatova, played a key role in the win at the service line, finishing with a team-high four aces. Carroll led the way on the ground for Brooklyn with 13 digs. Senior setter,
Amra Mulic, set for a team-high 16 assists.
