Brooklyn, NY----Announced by the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) on Friday, five members of the Brooklyn College men's soccer team received postseason honors including three major conference awards. BC senior forward, Niko Metreveli, was named the conference's Player of the Year, freshman forward,
Andrew Gavrilov, earned Rookie of the Year accolades, while first-year BC Head Coach,
Nathan Bell, was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. In addition, junior midfielders,
Adam Moharam and
Yassin Hairane, and sophomore back, Navruz Asatallaev, were Second Team All-Conference selections. Asatallaev was also named to the conference's Sportsmanship Team. All five honorees helped Brooklyn to a 10-6-1 (5-1-1 CUNYAC) record and their first Regular Season CUNYAC title since 1981.
Nikala Metreveli (CUNYAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR/FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE)
- Led the conference in assists (9).
- Ranked second in the conference in points (21).
- Ranked third in the conference in goals scored (6).
- Scored a hat trick in the first half against Medgar Evers College in conference play on 10/11.
- Named CUNYAC Player of the Week three times on the season.
Andrew Gavrilov (CUNYAC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR/FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE)
- Led the conference in goals scored (15), points (31), and game-winning goals (6).
- Tied for third in NCAA Division III in goals scored per game, third in game-winning goals, and 14th in points per game.
- Scored a hat trick in the first half against Medgar Evers on 10/11.
- Named CUNYAC Rookie of the Week three times on the season.
Nathan Bell (CUNYAC COACH OF THE YEAR)
- Guided the program to the most wins since 2013.
- Team was a perfect 7-0 at home during the regular season.
- Team did not lose a match from September 22 to October 18 in 8 matches played, going 7-0-1 during that span.
- Coached the conference's Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in addition to a pair of 2nd Team All-Conference players.
Adam Moharam (CUNYAC SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE)
- Second straight All-Conference selection.
- Ranked second in the conference in assists (7).
- Helped Brooklyn to seven shutouts on the season.
- Had three assists against Medgar Evers on 10/11.
Yassin Hairane (CUNYAC SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE)
- First CUNYAC All-Conference nod in his third season with the program.
- Helped Brooklyn to seven shutouts on the season.
- Had two assists in Brooklyn's 2-0 win over Pratt on 9/22.
Navruz Asatallaev (CUNYAC SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE/SPORTSMANSHIP TEAM)
- Started in all 17 matches played on the season.
- Led the team in minutes played.
- Helped anchor a defense that had seven shutouts on the season.
- Had two (2) assists on the season.
