Bronx, NY----In a tale of halves, Brooklyn College Men's Basketball fell in conference play at Lehman College, 82-54, on Thursday night. Brooklyn drops to 3-8 overall (1-1 CUNYAC) while the Lightning improves to 6-5 (2-0 CUNYAC). Next Up: BC returns to their non-conference schedule at home on Saturday, 12/13, against Gwynedd Mercy at 1pm.
Lehman jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the contest before BC senior guard, D'Aze Hunter put the Bulldogs on the board with a made jumper with 17:32 left in the first half. With the Bulldogs trailing 24-16, Brooklyn sophomore guard,
Joe Charles, went on a 4-0 run of his own with back-to-back made jumpers, cutting the LC lead to four with 7:30 left in the first half. Brooklyn forward,
Herbert Gary, eventually tied the contest, 26-26. Charles would tie the game for the last time on a three-point make with 5:42 to go in the first half. However, the Bulldogs were never able to retake the lead as Lehman went on a 7-0 run and lead by as many as 11 points in the final minute of the first half before a Muneer three-pointer made it a 44-36 Lehman lead by halftime.
Charles scored the first bucket of the second half before the Lightning responded with an 8-0 run. Lehman outscored the Bulldogs, 38-18, in the second half and closed out the contest with their largest lead of the game.
Brooklyn shot 25.81% in the second half after shooting 45.71% from the field in the first half. The Lightning out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 49-30, for the game. Lehman was led by Kofi Mends' game-high 20 points.
Charles led Brooklyn with 16 points while coming up with 3 steals on the other side of the ball. Hunter chipped in 10 points and dished out 4 assists. Gary scored 9 points and grabbed 4 offensive rebounds off of the bench.
