BC Women's Swimming & Diving Earn First Victory of Season Against Lehman

Bulldogs Get First Win In Conference Play

THE BRONX, New York ------- Coming into their second conference meet, the Brooklyn College women's swimming and diving team was still in search of their first overall victory, but they needed to find a way to beat their conference opponents in the Lehman College Lightning. After losing the last five meets, the Bulldogs would finally prevail over their conference opponents in convincing fashion, taking a 109-73 victory. This marked the first time the team had reached triple digits all season.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (1-5) gain an important, much-needed victory in the process, while the Lehman College Lightning (1-6) have now lost the last six meets after a strong start to the season.

After losing their first event, Brooklyn's first crucial win would come in Event 5, as Antonietta Baerga would post a time of 2:31.98 to narrowly take first place in the 200-yard freestyle.

Elizabeth Bailey-Hamm would have a seven-second advantage over second place, posting a time of 27.05 in Event 7's 50-yard freestyle.

Yara Shaik would widen the scoring gap with 9 points earned in Event 17's 100-yard backstorke, to solidify a victory in Lehman.

Hailey Johnston would help the Bulldogs bounce back in Event 13, beating her closest competitor from the Lightning by just milliseconds with a time of 1:45.57 in the 100-yard butterfly.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's swimming and diving team comes back home to face the William Paterson University Pioneers on Sunday, December 6th at 1pm.
