Story Links

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Tuesday night's conference game, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team had been playing physically, but were unfortunately coming up short. As they found themselves at home once again, the Bulldogs would fight all game long, but could not surpass the Hunter College Hawks in the second half, going down by a score of 78-68. The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (9-12, 4-6 CUNYAC) have now lost their third conference game in a row, while the Hunter College Hawks (5-16, 3-7 CUNYAC) pulled off a huge win on the road that directly effects the conference standings.

How It Happened

Brooklyn would jump out to an early 6-0 lead, but Hunter would come fighting back with a 7-0 run of their own, leading to what would be an up and down first half that featured five lead changes and four instances where the score would be tied. Though the last time the score would be tied would be at 19-19 with 7:46 to go in the first half, both teams would keep it close, and Hunter would end the first half outscoring Brooklyn 5-1 to take a 32-27 lead into the half.

The Bulldogs would come in close in the second half, as McGill's layup would bring the Bulldogs within three once again with the score 51-48 with 9:50 to go.

However, the Hawks would then go on an 8-0 run, their best scoring run and the one that would ultimately break this game through to take an important victory on the road, a devastating loss for the Bulldogs by a score of 78-68.

For the Bulldogs

  • David McFadden led in scoring with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist, shooting 7-for-12 overall, including 5-for-8 from deep.
  • Brendan Armour would be just short of a double-double, posting 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal while shooting 8-for-13 from the field.
  • Joe Charles would lead the ball movement with 5 assists to go with 7 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team travel to the city to face the John Jay College Bloodhounds on Saturday, February 8th at 3:00pm.
