Flushing, NY----In a repeat of last year's CUNYAC Championship match, the No. 2 Brooklyn College men's tennis team fell to top-seeded Baruch College in the conference tournament final, 5-0, at the the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Thursday. The Bulldogs close out the 2024-25 campaign with a 6-8 overall record while the Bearcats improve to 12-3 while punching their ticket to their seventh straight NCAA Tournament.
The Bearcats grabbed a 3-0 lead following three competitive doubles matches.
Mujibur Shaad and
Allen Mardakhayev fell at the No. 2 slot, 8-5, followed by
Ryan Sham and
Craig Pazarecki at the top-flight, 8-4.
Ryan Badre-Hume and
Maximiliano Jarry Monroy were also outlasted, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.
Baruch clinched the championship victory by winning at No. 3 and then No. 2 singles. Mardakhayev had a battle in progress, 6-6, at No. 4 singles and freshman,
Dennis Shender, was leading (6-3, 1-1) when play was suspended.
