Brooklyn Women's Volleyball Gets It Done at Lehman in Conference Play, 3-1

Bronx, NY----Winning back-to-back matches, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team took care of business on the road in conference play, defeating Lehman College, 3-1, on Tuesday night.  BC improves to 7-11 (4-1 CUNYAC) with the win while the Lightning drops to 2-16 (1-4 CUNYAC).  Next Up: Brooklyn returns home on Thursday, 10/29, for their 'Dig Pink' match in conference action against CCNY.  Opening serve is set for 6:30 pm at the West Quad Gymnasium.

Olive Carroll and Saule Okeke-Ziburkus led the Bulldogs' attack, finishing with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Okeke-Ziburkus added 14.5 points, while Carroll contributed 14 points. Olivia Fan also delivered a strong offensive performance, recording eight kills and 8.5 points.

Rose Kory orchestrated the offense with a season-high 35 assists and added eight digs. Mila Servania anchored the back row with a team-high 21 digs, helping Brooklyn finish with 75 digs as a team.

The Bulldogs opened the match with a hard-fought first set, rallying late to secure a 26-24 win. After the teams traded points through the early stages, Brooklyn battled back from an 18-15 deficit. Kills by Sophie Galchus and Carroll helped fuel the comeback, while a late kill from Malia Reyes and a service ace by Reyes closed out the set.

Brooklyn carried the momentum into the second set, earning a 25-23 victory. Trailing 11-8, the Bulldogs mounted a strong response, using kills from Chloe Siena, Okeke-Ziburkus, and Fan to take control. Carroll delivered the set-clinching kill as Brooklyn moved ahead 2-0.

Lehman answered in the third set, taking a 25-22 decision despite a late Brooklyn rally. The Bulldogs erased an 18-12 deficit to tie the set at 18-18, with key kills from Fan and Okeke-Ziburkus and a pair of blocks contributing to the comeback. However, the Lightning regained the lead down the stretch to extend the match.

Brooklyn responded emphatically in the fourth set. Behind Kory's setting and a balanced offensive attack, the Bulldogs built an early advantage and maintained control throughout the frame. Carroll and Okeke-Ziburkus each recorded six kills in the final set, while Fan and Siena added timely points as Brooklyn closed out the 25-18 win to secure the match.

The Bulldogs finished with 46 kills and 35 assists, while limiting Lehman to 33 kills. Carroll and Okeke-Ziburkus paced the attack with 25 combined kills, and Servania's defensive effort helped Brooklyn deny any Lehman threat.
