Brooklyn, NY----Clinching their fifth CUNYAC Regular Season championship in six years, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to a 102-34 conference victory over York College at home on Friday. Brooklyn improves to 21-3 (13-0 CUNYAC) with the win while York drops to 0-18 (0-13 CUNYAC). Next Up: Brooklyn will look to run the table in conference play on Senior Night on Tuesday, February 17, against Hunter College at 5pm.
The Bulldogs began the game with a 9-0 run sparked by an
Aaliyah McCalla three-point make just nine seconds into the contest. Brooklyn kicked their lead up to 29-6 following four straight points scored by
Ameea Daniel with :57 to go in the first quarter.
Brooklyn scored the first eight points of the second quarter beginning and ending with
Anna Kitch makes in the paint. A three-point field goal drained by
Cheyenne Castellano gave BC a 46-9 advantage with 3:24 left in the first half.
The Bulldogs never looked back for the remainder of the contest, rolling to their fourteenth straight win. Fifteen Bulldogs scored on the evening. Brooklyn scored 46 points off of 45 York turnovers. BC came up with 36 steals for the game.
Beautifull Earth and Amaniya Aiken paced the Cardinals with 15 points each.
Kitch led the way for Brooklyn with a game-high 18 points o 7-14 shooting from the field. She also grabbed 8 rebounds. Junior guard,
Brianna Jackson, added 15 points, dished out 6 assists, and came up with 3 steals. Castellano and
Victoria Kantzian chipped in 9 points each off of the bench.
