Brooklyn Wins Third in a Row at CCNY

New York, NY---Winning their third straight conference game, Brooklyn College men's pulled out a 61-54 victory at CCNY on Friday.  Brooklyn improves to 9-12 (7-4 CUNYAC) while the Beavers drop to 6-16 (5-6 CUNYAC).  Next Up: Brooklyn returns to their non-conference schedule for a makeup game at St. Elizabeth on Monday, February 9, at 7pm.  

Clinging to a 53-52 lead, BC junior guard Abdoulaye Gueye knocked down a clutch three-pointer with 1:12 remaining in regulation to give Brooklyn a two-possession lead.  The Beavers would cut the lead to two points on the next possession before the Bulldogs came up with key defensive stops and sealed the contest from the free-throw line in the final minute of the second half.  

Brooklyn took a six-point lead in the first minute of the second half after a Joe Charles three-point make.  CCNY responded and eventually went on to lead by as many as four points on two separate occasions halfway through the second half.  Trailing 53-52 with 2:49 to go in regulation, the Bulldogs grabbed the lead for good beginning with a 5-0 run capped by Gueye's timely three-point make.  

The Bulldogs faced an early 6-0 deficit to start the game.  However, they would tie the game, 16-16, after a Muneer Ibrahem three-pointer with 7:50 to go in the first half.  Thomas Hall capped BC's 10-0 run with another three-point make to give Brooklyn 21-16 advantage by the 6:03 mark.  The Bulldogs kicked their lead up to as many as eight points in the first half before heading into the break with a 27-24 advantage.  

Brooklyn shot 5-10 from behind in the arc in the second half while limiting the Beavers to  22.7% shooting from long-range for the game.  Chris Popotte lead all scorers with 20 points.  

Charles led the way for Brooklyn with 14 points.  Altin Kukaj added 9 points while shooting 2-3 from behind the arc.  Hall finished with 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  D'aze Hunter dished out 12 assists.
