Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College softball team bounced back in a big way on Saturday, cruising to a doubleheader sweep of Sarah Lawrence for their first victories at Brooklyn College Field this season.  BC rolled in Game 1 of the doubleheader, 12-1 (5 Innings) before rallying in the last three innings of Game 2 for a 9-1 (5 Innings) victory. Brooklyn improves to 4-14 with the non-conference wins while the Gryphons drop to 2-12.  Next Up: The Bulldogs open conference play at home on Wednesday, April 1, against the defending CUNYAC champion John Jay Bloodhounds with the scheduled doubleheader beginning at 4pm.

Game 1 Recap | Brooklyn- 12, Sarah Lawrence- 1 (5 Innings)

Brooklyn wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the first inning. After a lead-off single and stolen base by Haylee Burleigh, the Bulldogs capitalized on patience at the plate and timely hitting. Vida Rodriguez delivered the big blow with a bases-clearing triple to give Brooklyn an early 5-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs continued to pour it on in the second and third innings, adding two runs in the second and five more in the third to extend the lead to 12-0. Addy Cook led the offensive charge, going 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs scored, and three RBI. Jazlyn Roberts also had a strong day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases, while Julia Corcoran added a two-run double.

In the circle, Kureshma Dhanraj turned in one of her best performances of the season. The right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter, allowing just one unearned run while striking out nine over five innings to earn her second win of the year.

Sarah Lawrence's lone run came in the fourth inning on a defensive miscue, but Dhanraj quickly regrouped to shut the door the rest of the way.

Brooklyn totaled 10 hits and drew eight walks in the game, showcasing a balanced and disciplined offensive approach. Burleigh added two hits and two runs scored at the top of the lineup, while Rodriguez finished with three RBI.

Game 2 Recap | Boroklyn- 9, Sarah Lawrence- 1 (5 Innings)

Brooklyn broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the third inning. After a double from Haylee Burleigh and aggressive baserunning, the Bulldogs plated the game's first run on a steal of home before Addy Cook followed with an RBI single to give Brooklyn a 2-0 lead.

Sarah Lawrence answered with its lone run in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double hit by Shirin Pechefsky, cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, Brooklyn responded immediately with a four-run bottom half of the inning to take control for good. Highlighting the rally were RBI extra-base hits from Julia Corcoran, Katelyn Young, Kureshma Dhanraj, and Lianna Gonzalez, along with heads-up baserunning that capitalized on multiple wild pitches.

The Bulldogs added three more runs in the fifth inning for the victory. Victoria Elderbaum, Corcoran, and Young each delivered key hits during the final rally, while Burleigh capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

In the circle, Jessica Bowe was outstanding, tossing a complete-game five-inning effort. The right-hander allowed just one run on five hits while striking out four to earn her second win of the season.

Brooklyn's offense was firing on all cylinders, totaling 12 hits. Young (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Dhanraj (2-for-3, 2 doubles, RBI), Corcoran (2-for-2, triple, double, 2 RBI), and Lianna Gonzalez (2-for-2, double, RBI) led the charge offensively.
