Bronx, NY----Extending their win-streak to five games, the Brooklyn College softball team swept their CUNYAC twin bill at Lehman College on Saturday afternoon. Brooklyn cruised to a 14-1 (5 innings) victory in Game 1 before shutting out the Lightning, 6-0, in the second game of the day. BC improves to 9-17 with the wins while Lehman drops to 1-13. Next up: The Bulldogs continue their conference slate at home on Wednesday, April 15, against York with the doubleheader beginning at 4pm at Brooklyn Colege Field.

Brooklyn wasted no time setting the tone, plating three runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back. The Bulldogs added three more runs in the second and broke the game open with a four-run third inning to take a commanding 10-1 lead.
At the plate, Brooklyn tallied 11 hits and drew nine walks, capitalizing on Lehman miscues throughout the contest. Haylee Burleigh led the offensive charge with four RBI, including a two-run single in the fifth inning. Lianna Gonzalez added three RBI and scored twice, while Jazlen Roberts chipped in two hits and two RBI. Katelyn Young was a spark in the heart of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Brooklyn's aggressive baserunning also played a key role, as the team recorded six stolen bases in the win.
In the circle, Kureshma Dhanraj was outstanding, tossing a complete-game three-hitter. The right-hander allowed just one run while striking out 11 to earn her fourth win of the season.
Lehman scored its lone run in the second inning on an RBI fielder's choice by Kiara Garcia. Nicholle Swierczek accounted for one of the Lightning's three hits and scored the team's only run.
Brooklyn added insurance runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, including a three-run fifth to enforce the run rule and seal the victory.

Brooklyn starting pitcher, Jessica Bowe, was dominant in the circle, tossing a seven-inning complete game shutout to earn her fifth win of the season. She scattered four hits, walked two, and struck out three, keeping Lehman off the scoreboard throughout.
BC got on the board early in the top of the first inning. After Haylee Burleigh reached on an error and Lianna Gonzalez was hit by a pitch, Katelyn Young delivered an RBI single to bring home the game's first run.
The Bulldogs added to their lead in the fourth inning when Julia Corcoran singled and later scored on a triple by Vida Rodriguez, making it 2-0.
Brooklyn continued to build its advantage with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Jazlyn Roberts doubled to center field to score Addy Cook. An inning later, Rodriguez came through again with an RBI double, plating Corcoran.
The Bulldogs broke the game open in the seventh inning, capitalizing on Lehman miscues. Lianna Gonzalez led off with a single and eventually scored, while Cook also crossed the plate. Young added her second RBI hit of the game to cap the scoring at 6-0.
Offensively, Brooklyn tallied eight hits, led by multi-hit performances from Young (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Corcoran (2-for-4, 2 runs), and Rodriguez (2-for-2, double, triple, 2 RBI). The Bulldogs also recorded five stolen bases in the contest.
Lehman threatened in the opening inning with a leadoff single by Catalina Hernandez, but Bowe worked out of trouble and maintained control the rest of the way. Patty Sanchez and Miley Estrella each added hits for the Lightning.
Damaris Adames took the loss for Lehman, allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits over seven innings, while striking out five.
