Wayne, NJ----The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-15) decision in their 2026 Season Opener at William Paterson University on Tuesday evening.  WPU improved to 2-0 with the victory after also defeating St. Joseph's Long Island in their first match of the day.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look for their first win of the year at St. Joseph's Long Island on Saturday, September 5, at 11am. 

BC showed resilience throughout the match, particularly in the second set, where the Bulldogs erased an early deficit and battled the Pioneers to the wire before William Paterson secured the 27-25 victory.

William Paterson controlled the opening set, 25-13, before Brooklyn responded with its strongest offensive showing of the night in the second. The Bulldogs recorded seven kills in the frame and kept the set close late, but the Pioneers ultimately pulled away to take a 2-0 match lead.

William Paterson closed out the match with a 25-15 third-set victory.

Saule Okeke-Ziburkus paced the Bulldogs offensively with a team-high 10 kills, while also recording three service aces and nine digs. She finished with 13 points.

Olive Carroll added five kills and two digs, while Olivia Fan turned in an efficient performance with four kills on 10 attacks without an error, good for a .400 hitting percentage.

Rose Kory orchestrated the Brooklyn offense with 20 assists and added three digs and one service ace. On the defensive end, Malia Reyes led all Bulldogs with 13 digs, while Malika Pulatova contributed five digs.

Brooklyn finished the match with 21 kills and a .098 hitting percentage, while William Paterson registered 42 kills and hit .245 as a team.

The Pioneers were led by Riley Elliott, who recorded 10 kills and nine digs. Makayda Aldrich added seven kills and six service aces, while Korinne Bakken also recorded seven kills.
