Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's soccer team fell in non-conference play to Albertus Magnus College at home on Wednesday. BC moves to 0-2-2 overall with the loss while the Falcons improved to 4-1-1. Next Up: The Bulldogs travel to Kean University on Saturday for a non-conference tilt at1pm.
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, scoring just 9:13 into the contest. Natalya Pennant capitalized on a turnover off a Brooklyn goal kick and found the back of the net to put Albertus Magnus ahead, 1-0.
Brooklyn looked to respond, with Alondra Vega Varela firing a shot just wide in the 22nd minute before Aissa Santos Lopez also sent an attempt over the crossbar in the 25th minute.
Albertus Magnus doubled its advantage at the 22:11 mark when Llyanna Griffith-Waite scored off assists from Julianne Yuris and goalkeeper Liliana Novicki, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Falcons continued to apply pressure in the second half, forcing Brooklyn goalkeeper April Hartje to make several key saves. Hartje finished the afternoon with seven saves.
Brooklyn's best second-half opportunity came in the 74th minute when Gianna DiPronio recorded a shot that sailed just over the crossbar.
Albertus Magnus added an insurance goal at 77:59, as Yuris found the back of the net off of a direct kick.
The Falcons finished with a 16-3 advantage in shots and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
