Brooklyn, NY---Playing in their second straight home match on the week, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball dropped a 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-14) decision to Farmingdale State on Thursday evening at the West Quad Center.  BC moves to 1-4 overall with the non-conference loss while the Rams improve to 4-1.  Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back as they open conference play at home in a rematch of the 2025 CUNYAC Championship against John Jay at 7pm.  

The Bulldogs came out looking to establish momentum in the opening set. After Farmingdale State scored the first three points, Olive Carroll put Brooklyn on the board with a kill from Malia Reyes to make it 1-3. Carroll then helped Brooklyn pull within one at 2-3 after a Farmingdale State setting error.

Brooklyn continued to compete as Sophie Galchus answered with a kill from Reyes to make the score 3-10. Later, Saule Okeke-Ziburkus registered a kill from Kory, followed by a Mila Servania kill, cutting the deficit to 6-16.

The Bulldogs made another push late in the frame. Olivia Fan recorded back-to-back kills to bring Brooklyn to 8-19, and Carroll followed with a service ace as the Bulldogs moved within 10 points at 11-22. Meadow Andrews then delivered a kill from Reyes to make it 12-23, but Farmingdale State closed the set, 25-12.

Brooklyn stayed within striking distance early in the second set. Okeke-Ziburkus recorded a kill from Kory to tie the frame at 2-2, while Fan answered with a kill from Kory at 6-6. Another Fan kill later made it 8-11, and Okeke-Ziburkus added another kill to bring Brooklyn within two at 10-12.

The Rams, however, responded with a 5-0 run to extend their lead. Brooklyn fought back with another Okeke-Ziburkus kill to make it 12-17, but Farmingdale State scored the final eight points of the set to take a 25-12 advantage and move ahead 2-0.

Brooklyn opened the third set with its strongest stretch of the match. After Farmingdale State took a 1-0 lead, Carroll delivered a service ace to tie the score. Carroll then helped spark a three-point Brooklyn run, as consecutive Farmingdale State attack errors gave the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead and forced an early Rams timeout.

Farmingdale State answered with a run of its own, but Brooklyn continued to battle. Fan recorded a kill from Kory to make it 6-9, followed by another Brooklyn point from Okeke-Ziburkus to cut the deficit to 7-9. Later, Okeke-Ziburkus added another kill to make it 9-17.

The Bulldogs continued to fight late in the set. Carroll recorded a kill from Kory at 10-19, and she added another kill at 12-23. Carroll then delivered consecutive points as Brooklyn closed to 14-23, but Farmingdale State scored the final two points to secure the 25-14 victory and complete the sweep.

Fan finished with six kills and a .357 hitting percentage, while Okeke-Ziburkus recorded seven kills. Carroll added four kills and two service aces, and Kory finished with 13 assists. Reyes paced the Bulldogs' defensive effort with 10 digs.
