Jason Bavolar was named an assistant coach for the Brooklyn College Men’s Basketball team in October of 2014.
Coach Bavolar comes to Brooklyn after serving as an assistant youth basketball coach for the Elmont Lawmen in Elmont, NY. While with the Elmont Lawmen, Bavolar provided counseling and feedback to the head coach, communicated with parents to provide written progress reports to the Board, managed training schedules and organized games, scouted opposing teams and recruited and evaluated talent throughout Nassau County.
Prior to the Elmont Lawmen, Coach Bavolar spent two seasons at the team manager for the LIU Post Men’s Basketball team. While at LIU Post, the Pioneers won back-to-back East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships and made back-to-back NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. Coach Bavolar’s responsibilities at LIU Post included assisting with recording of individual player and team statistics during games, recording offensive and defensive stats during scrimmages and practices, assisting coaching staff with player warm ups prior to games and practices, filmed practices and uploaded material to team’s video storage and serving as a passer, screener and/or shooter in practice drills.
Bavolar, who spent time in the US Navy as a Ship Serviceman/Logistics Specialist from 2004-2009, received his BA in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from LIU Post in May 2014.
