Joseph Réal André

Promoted as Brooklyn College's Head Men's Soccer Coach during the Summer of 2016, Joseph Andre enters his fifth season at the helm of the BC Men's Soccer program. 

Joseph André was added as an Assistant Coach on the Brooklyn College Men's Soccer coaching staff under Head Coach Rawle Hensford in May 2014.

Coach André is no stranger to the City University of New Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), having spent six seasons as the head coach of the Men's Soccer program at his alma mater Lehman College.

Beginning in 2008 as a club team, Coach André rebuilt the Lightning program from scratch after a decade long hiatus. Over five seasons as a varsity program, Lehman amassed a 36-54-5 overall record, including a 22-19-1 mark in conference play under Coach André.

Lehman had its finest season in 2011 when the Lightning captured both the regular season championship and postseason championship to earn the programs first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Coach André led his team to a 13-6-1 overall record, including a 7-1 record in the CUNYAC that season, en route to earning CUNYAC Coach of the Year accolades.

The year prior, in 2010, Coach André led his Lightning to a remarkable runner-up finish in the conference championships as the #5 seed.

During his tenure at Lehman, Coach André mentored a CUNYAC Player of the Year, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Men's Division III All-East Second Team member and 13 CUNYAC All-Stars.

Prior to Lehman, André served as a soccer and basketball coach for the NCAA National Youth Sports Program and is currently the President of Real Sportif Inc., a personal training and sports consulting company.

André received his B.A. in 1995 and later an M.S. E.d. in 2005, both from Lehman. While at Lehman, André was a three-sport athlete, playing four seasons on both the Men's Soccer and Men's Tennis teams and one season on the Men's Basketball team. As a member of the Men's Tennis team, André was a part of the 1992 CUNYAC Championship team, Lehman's last conference championship in men's tennis. Following his playing career, André stayed on with the Men's Soccer team as a volunteer assistant during the 1995 season to begin his collegiate coaching career.

Coach André, who is a member of the NSCAA and proficient in both Spanish and French, has received a Level 1 license from the Brazilian Soccer Federation (CBF) and a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.He is also an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer.
