Hired during the Summer of 2016, David Wallis will serve as the head coach for both the Brooklyn College women's and men's tennis programs. He will be responsible for all aspects of both programs including recruiting, match preparation, in-match coaching, and academic montioring of all student-athletes.
Prior to his appointment at Brooklyn, Coach Wallis served as Head Coach for the Bloomfield College (NCAA Division II) men's tennis team from 2005-2008. Hired for the inception of the team in 2005, Coach Wallis was able to build a program from scratch that continued to remain competitive through his tenure until his departure in 2008.
Before breaking into the college ranks, Coach Wallis served as the head boys' varsity tennis coach at the Knox School (NY) from 2003-2005. He also served as the girls' varsity head tennis coach for the 2004 season.
In addition to his college and scholastic head coaching experience, Coach Wallis served as a tennis pro at a number of clubs and facilities. From 2007-2016, he has served as a pro at Woodcliff Lake Spring for the Summer junior and adult programs. He has been a pro at the Atlantic Beach Tennis Center during the Summer of 2015, heading a junior camp as well as an evening adults tennis program. He also served as a head camp coach at the British Study Center at the Peddie School in 2012 and the Wild Wood County Club in 2013. One of his first pro jobs dates back to 2002 with the New York Junior Tennis League, providing basic instruction and drills for up-and-coming juniors.
Coach Wallis is certified by the US Professional Tennis Registry of Instructors and has attended a number of USTA sanctioned workshops on instruction and coaching. He earned his juris doctorate with honors from the University of Miami (FL) after earning his bachelor of arts with honors from Rutgers University.
