In her two seasons on the sidelines with the Bulldogs, the team has gone 41-16, while winning a CUNYAC title and earning an NCAA Tournament bid this past season.
Gehring shares scouting duties, while overseeing point guard workouts. She is also an integral part of recruiting efforts.
Gehring is a Long Island native who comes from a basketball family, as each of her three older sisters played college basketball, as did she, graduating from Division II Chestnut Hill. As a Griffin, Gehring was a captain as a senior and was honored with the team coach’s award in addition to all-conference academic honors. As a high school senior, Gehring was team MVP at Southold, while playing AAU for Fundamental Sports Training.
“Cari is a gym rat who will bring great enthusiasm and an eagerness to improve at the craft of coaching,” says head coach Alex Lang. “She is a natural fit as a coach. She has the personality, knowledge and patience that will serve her and our team well.” Gehring, a former point guard will work with the backcourt.
Gehring lives in Westbury, Long Island, and is one of five siblings, including two who are currently coaching high school basketball on Long Island.
