Joseph Contello joined the Brooklyn College Office of Recreation, Intramurals & Intercollegiate Athletics in January of 2015 as Head Coach of the Men’s Volleyball program. In summer of 2016, he was added to the Women's Volleyball staff as an assistant coach.
Prior to BC, Contello spent two seasons (2004-2005) at NYC College of Technology, where he was head coach of the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Teams.
Contello began his coaching career at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he was the head coach of both the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Teams. After one season there, he went on to become the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Hostos Community College, where he coached them for one year.
To go along with his collegiate coaching experience, from 1987 to 2005, Contello was the Intramurals Director at St. Athanasius, where he also coached B.C.B.A and C.Y.O Sports.
Coach Contello attended Goddard College, in Plainfield, Vermont, where he graduated with a Bachelors in Educational Psychology with a minor in Fine Arts.
