Ben Forberg had one of the best seasons of any CUNYAC men’s tennis player in 2007 and is only a freshman. Forberg started the season as the team’s #3 singles player, but was moved up to #2 early in April and has embraced the role, going 8-1 since, with his only loss coming in the CUNYAC semifinals versus York. Overall on the month, Ben went 9-1 in singles competition, including a 7-1 mark versus CUNYAC opponents. In the CUNYAC final versus Baruch, a match that Brooklyn lost by the slim margin of 5-4, Ben did his part, winning his #2 singles match 7-6, 6-4 over Baruch’s Timmy Leon. Ben was also victorious at #2 doubles, teaming up with Metin Noorata to defeat Alex Sokol and Michalis Zevlakis of Baruch, 8-8 (12-10). His doubles record on the month was even more impressive as he amassed a 9-0 mark, including a 7-0 mark versus CUNYAC competition. Along with Noorata, the doubles team was perfect in the three round of the CUNYAC Tournament, going 3-0. Ben’s head coach, Louis Gonzalez, thinks highly of his #2 player, saying, “Ben has demonstrated professionalism, consistency and command in all of his matches this season.” Ben, a graduate of Marymount High School in Italy, came to Brooklyn College to study film in hopes of making movies one day.
