The Brooklyn College Men’s Volleyball team had two of their three wins come in the month of March. The team would finish 3-18, 2-12 in the CUNYAC, and go to the CUNYAC Championships as a seven seed before falling to Hunter in the first round. A big reason for the improved play of the team at the end of the season was Mohamed Taman.
Taman, a sophomore, picked up his play at the end of the season. Head Coach Trish Morris said, “He started late with us, but his play was very impressive at the end of the season and he became one of our leaders on the court.” The outside hitter recorded 57 kills in the month, good for 2.11 per game. He notched 49 digs and a remarkable 15 total blocks, including nine solo, on the month.
On March 9, in a loss to York, Taman had what might have been his best match of the season. He recorded 10 kills, with eight digs and four blocks, two solo, to help keep the Bulldogs close in all three games of the York sweep.
Of Taman’s future with the team, Morris said, “I see big things for him in the next two years. He is a very strong kid, both mentally and physically, and I think that, with a little more refining of his game, he will be one of the standouts in the conference.”
