Brooklyn, NY---After controlling most of the first half and taking a one point lead into the break, the Brooklyn College Women (2-3) were not able to win their third straight, as they dropped a 71-62 decision to Rutgers-Camden (3-3).
Coming out of the break, Rutgers-Camden scored 10 straight points, giving the Scarlet Raptors a nine-point cushion less than three minutes into the second half.   The Bridges then rallied as three-pointers by sophomore Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY)and senior Jaclyn Cavalcante (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) sandwiched a pair of Amber Gordon (Bishop Loughlin / Brooklyn, NY) free throws, pulling BC to within one point, 41-40. That would be as close as the home team would get, as Rutgers-Camden used Krystal Jankowski (Sterling / Summerville, NJ) lay-up to begin a 12-0 run that sealed the victory.
Gordon led the way for the Bridges with a game-high 23 points, converting on 9 of 10 from the field in the loss.  Fellow freshman Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Brooklyn, NY) notched a career-high 13 points while hitting on all four of her 3 three-point attempts.  Cavalcante scored 12 points and added a team-high four assists.  Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
Carmen Oyola (Hammonton / Hammonton, NJ) led Camden with 21 points and 11 boards.
Brooklyn will head to York on Tuesday night in their first CUNYAC game of the season.  The team will return home on Thursday to take on the College of Staten Island in a 5:30 pm start.
