Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women (5-6; 1-2 CUNYAC) jumped out to a 13-0 lead over CUNYAC South Division rival New York City College of Technology (2-9; 0-3 CUNYAC) and never looked back as they won an 87-63 decision.
Enjoying a 31-14 lead midway through the opening stanza, the Bridges embarked on a 10-0 run over the  next four minutes.  Sophomore guard Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) scored six points herself during this rally and her two steals led to baskets by Amber Gordon (Bishop Loughin / Brooklyn, NY) and Danielle Kramer (Bishop Ford / Brooklyn, NY).  City Tech then went on an 11-6 spurt keyed by Akela Moses (Brooklyn Technical / Brooklyn, NY), who netted six points in the final five minutes to close the half.
In the second half, Brooklyn would stretch its lead to 33 points on a McDonnell three-pointer with less than 13 minutes remaining.  The Yellow Jackets would go on a 24-12 run, as Tempestt Casey (Bronx Leadership / Bronx, NY) netted 14 points in less than seven minutes.  Despite this burst, City Tech could get no closer than 19 points, and the final margin for the Bridges was 24 points.
Senior guard Jaclyn Cavalcante (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) was superb for BC, scoring 20 points on 5 of 8 shooting, including 4 for 5 from behind the arc and 6 of 8 from the line.  McDonnell had a team-high 21 points and 9 rebounds broke the 20-point plateau for the second straight game.  Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) notched her second straight double-double as she totaled 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Freshman guard Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Astoria, NY) notched a team-high 8 assists in addition to 4 steals. Kramer came off the bench to score 15 points on 5 of 8 from the field.
City Tech was paced by Casey, who recorded a double-double of her own, dropping 22 points to complement her season-high 21 rebounds.  Kemi Owoseni (Brooklyn Technical / Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 17 points in the loss.
Brooklyn remains home, playing host to North Division foe Hunter College on Saturday at 12:30 pm.
