Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis Team (9-4, 7-1 CUNYAC) won their fourth straight match on Monday as they defeated Lehman College (7-5, 3-3 CUNYAC), 5-4.
The match was halted on Friday evening with the score tied, 4-4, as the #3 singles match between Brooklyn's Nadine Alexander (Boys & Girls / Brooklyn, NY) and Gabrela Harewood (Brooklyn Technical / Bronx, NY) was in its second set when it became too dark to continue play.
The two got together this morning to conclude the match which Alexander won 6-3, 7-5, giving Brooklyn the win.
Alexander and Erika Gil (Fort Hamilton / Brooklyn, NY) played a thrilling #2 doubles match, which they prevailed in, 9-8 (8-6), after trailing Harewood and Melissa Hemick (Lehman / Bronx, NY) 7-2.
Gil cruised to her #4 singles win over Hemick, 6-0, 6-2.
Olexandra Ovsiy (American / Dnepropetrousk, Ukraine) won a big #2 singles matchup over Lehman senior Aurora Peters (Jamaica / Hollis, NY), 6-1, 6-2, while Amalea Sideris (St. Demetrios / Astoria, NY) needed a second set tiebreaker to knock off Natalee Smith (Truman / Bronx, NY), 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Brooklyn will return home to host the College of Staten Island in their final CUNYAC regular season match on Tuesday, October 13th at 4:00 pm.
