On Wednesday afternoon the Brooklyn College Softball Team (1-7) dropped a pair of games to the College at Old Westbury (4-2), 13-0 and 13-2.
The opener saw Old Westbury take a 4-0 lead after one inning, but then the Brooklyn defense settled down to allow only one run over the next 3 innings.
Old Westbury freshman Ashley Bozzo (Connetquot / Ronkonkoma, NY) then stole the show in the 5th inning, homering twice off Brooklyn's Nicole Bianco (FDR / Brooklyn, NY). Bozzo's first was a two-run shot to center, then she came up with two on later in the inning to hit an opposite field, three-run blast.
The Brooklyn offense could not get much going in the game, as they could only muster two hits as Danielle Maresca (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) and Jenna Ferrara (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) each singled.
In the second game Old Westbury got off to another quick lead as they scored two in the top of the first and led for the entire game.
A bright spot for Brooklyn in the game was the play of sophomore Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Sunnyside, NY), who pitched two scoreless innings in relief and hit a triple, scoring one of BC's two runs.
Up next for Brooklyn will be a home doubleheader against CUNYAC foe Hunter College on Friday, March 27th at Floyd Bennett field.
