Softball Falls To Hunter In Conference Doubleheader

Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Softball Team (1-9, 0-4 CUNYAC) could not defend their home field against the reigning CUNYAC champs, Hunter College (3-11, 2-0 CUNYAC), on Friday afternoon, as the Bridges fell, 9-0 and 11-2 in the two games.

The opening game featured the remarkable pitching of Hunter College ace Nicole Grilli (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) dominated the BC batting order, only allowing 1 hit while earning the shutout.

The second game saw more offense than the first.  With Grilli on the mound, a line drive double by Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Brooklyn, NY) put runners on 2nd and 3rd.  Kristen Corvino (Bishop Kearney / Brooklyn, NY) then notched her second hit of the game to drive in Nicole Bianco (FDR / Brooklyn, NY).  Allen then scored on a throwing error by Hunter catcher Arielle Zieff (Port Richmond / Staten Island, NY).

Unfortunately for BC, the runs were too little as Hunter put up an 11-spot against the pitching combination of Kaylin Taunton (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) and Ana Abouricheh (Brooklyn Tech / Brooklyn, NY).

Up next for Brooklyn is a road doubleheader as they travel to the College of New Rochelle on Monday to take on the Blue Angels in a pair of non-conference games.
