Softball Snaps Skid With 17-9 Win Over York

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Softball Team (2-11, 1-4 CUNYAC) earned their first conference win as they defeated York College (0-6, 0-1 CUNYAC) 17-9 on Wednesday in the first game of a doubleheader at Floyd Bennett Field.  The second game was halted in the third inning due to darkness and will be concluded when Brooklyn travels to York on April 21st.

Brooklyn trailed 9-4 in game 1, but rallied with 13 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim the 17-9 victory.  Nicole Bianco (FDR / Brooklyn, NY) started for Brooklyn and earned her 2nd win of the season.

Offensively, Jenna Ferrara (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY), Danielle Maresca (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) and Smantha Lombardi (New Utrecht / Brooklyn, NY) each scored 3 runs, including 2 each in the game-clinching 5th.

Ferrara also slugged an RBI double in the third and knocked a long RBI triple over the centerfielder's head in the 5th.

Danielle Kramer (Bishop Ford / Brooklyn, NY) had a big pinch-hit 2-RBI double in the fifth to help clinch the win.  

Up next for Brooklyn will be a Friday afternoon doubleheader versus borough rival City Tech.
