Bridges Zap Lightning In Game One, Hold Lead in Game Two

Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Softball Team (3-11, 2-4 CUNYAC) defeated Lehman College (2-10, 0-3 CUNYAC) 10-5 in the first half of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.  The Bridges were also leading 9-4 when darkness forced a suspension of play after the third inning of the second game.

Brooklyn jumped out to an early lead, as short stop Jenna Ferrara (James Madision / Brooklyn, NY) doubled home two runs in the top of the first inning.  After Lehman battled back to knot the score at 2-2, the BC offense exploded for five runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead for good. Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Astoria, NY) and Danielle Kramer (Bishop Ford / Brooklyn, NY) each drove in two runs during the rally.

The solid pitching of Nicole Bianco (Franklin D. Roosevelt / Brooklyn, NY) made the lead stand up.  Going the distance for her second win of the season, Bianco surrendered five runs (four earned) on seven hits while striking out a pair.  She also reached base four times in the game and scored three runs.

In the second game, a two-out bases clearing double by third baseman Danielle Maresca (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) keyed an third-inning rally for the Bridges,  BC led the contest 9-4 going into the top of the fourth inning when darkness forced a suspension of play.  The game will be resumed at a yet-to-be-determined date,

The Bridges next play on Thursday April 8, traveling to John Jay College to battle the Bloodhounds in a CUNYAC double header.  The first game will start at 3:00 pm.
