Box Score
Bronx, NY---
Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead Brooklyn (14-5, 8-1 CUNYAC) to their ninth straight victory, knocking off Lehman (7-13, 4-5 CUNYAC), 75-68 on Saturday afternoon.
After taking a four point lead into the locker room, BC would trail for much of the second half, before a Jean-Baptiste basket and free throw would tie the game at 57 with just under eight minutes remaining.
The Bulldogs would then gain the lead on a Jean-Baptiste three-pointer on their next possession and would hold onto the lead for the next few minutes of play until a pair of Perry Daniel (Erasmus Hall / Brooklyn, NY) free throws would tie the game again at 66.
The next Brooklyn possession resulted in a turnover, but Lehman could not capitalize on the other end and BC came right back down as
Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) found
Amil John (South Shore / Brooklyn, NY) for the open three to up the lead back to three, 69-66.
Both teams then came up empty in their next opportunities down the court, but on Lehman's consequent possession, Xavier Garvin (Mt. St. Michael / Bronx, NY) scored a big basket to cut the Bulldog lead to just one.
Brooklyn would again respond as Guerin would find
Daniel Nisbett (Petrides / Staten Island, NY) cutting to the hoop for the basket and foul. Nisbett would make the free throw, extending the lead to four and ending Lehman's hopes at the upset victory.
John finished the game with 16 points, while Nisbett chipped in with 12.
Daniel led the way for Lehman with 22.
The BC Men will have a three day layoff before returning to action on Wednesday with a road matchup against South Division rival Medgar Evers College.
